OUR FOUNDER

STEVE WILKS

Steve Wilks started the “3T Foundation” out of his love and respect for the community. He is committed to influencing the lives of others, particularly our youth. Steve grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina in the Hidden Valley neighborhood. His roots run deep throughout the community. As a youth and student, Steve excelled in sports through involvement with the Police Athletic League (PAL), JT Williams Middle School, and West Charlotte High School where he was the star quarterback.

Coach Wilks has had many role models throughout his life beyond just his parents. His youth coaches, teachers, and his pastor, all helped develop and mold his character. He feels compelled to provide the same opportunities to help advance today’s youth and help them to dream beyond their current circumstances.

Steve has built strong, lifelong relationships with 29 years of coaching experience in the college arena and the National Football League (NFL). He has a passion for promoting positive change and to be an influence in the lives of others. His fellow colleagues describe him as a great leader with an innovative mind. To this day residents of Hidden Valley recognize Coach Wilks's accomplishments and the integrity he demonstrates while navigating a career in professional football.

Steve Wilks is married to Marci Wilks and together they have three amazing children Marissa, Melanni, and Steven James.

Coach Wilks has worn many team colors over the years, but the maroon and gold of West Charlotte High School and the Charlotte community will always be close to his heart.
